I just attended this year’s WordCamp Vancouver, and realized I’m well overdue for a new post here.
In 2016, I explored the joys and challenges of remote working by spending a few months in India, and balancing travel and meditation with ongoing project work. I’ve been involved in a few rich and complex WordPress development projects, one that hasn’t launched yet, and a suite of sites that are behind an NDA, so I can’t tell you much about them except that it’s been fun and I’m constantly learning how to do more and more with WordPress custom post types.
I designed and built a new site for Colin James, a Canadian blues-rock icon.
I developed a site for FabLearn at Stanford University, designed by One by One Design Co.
And in the next few weeks I’ll be getting out from behind the screen and appearing in front of one instead; I’m a motion-capture puppeteer for virtual reality characters as part of Manipulation at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, taking place at Intersections Digital Studios of Emily Carr University from September 8-18. I’ll also be writing music for the piece I’m acting in. I’m excited to see how it all comes together, and fascinated to dip my toe into a totally different form of technology!
